CTS 5-Day Certificate in Couple & Family Celebrancy

Celebrant Training Scotland

Are you considering a career in Couple & Family Celebrancy? Are you looking for a quality training course that will teach you all you need to know about being a Couple & Family Celebrant in the UK?

The CTS (Celebrant Training Scotland) Certificate in Couple & Family Celebrancy will provide all the teachings, tools and techniques required to be a Celebrant. This is an intensive 5-Day Classroom based course that is designed to walk students through all the aspects of Couple & Family Celebrancy in the UK.

PLEASE NOTE: THE TRAINING FOCUSES ON TEACHING YOU THE DIFFERENT ASPECTS OF COUPLE & FAMILY CEREMONIES. IT DOES NOT TEACH YOU TO BE A ‘WEDDING CELEBRANT’ NOR WILL IT GIVE STUDENTS AUTHORISATION TO CONDUCT THE LEGAL ASPECTS OF MARRIAGES IN SCOTLAND (OR THE REST OF THE UK). IN ORDER TO BE ABLE TO SOLEMNISE A MARRIAGE IN SCOTLAND, YOU MUST BE AFFILIATED TO AND/OR SUPPORTED BY A RELIGIOUS BODY OR BELIEF ORGANISATION SUCH AS INTERFAITH, HUMANIST OR PAGAN AMONGST OTHERS.

IF YOU ARE ONLY INTERESTED IN BECOMING A ‘WEDDING OR MARRIAGE CELEBRANT’, THIS IS NOT THE COURSE FOR YOU.

Q&A

1. Will I be able to legally conduct weddings following the training?
No, the training will not permit you to legally conduct weddings in Scotland. In order to be able to solemnise a marriage you must be affiliated to and/or supported by a religious body or belief organisation such as Interfaith, Humanist or Pagan amongst others. This is not a ‘Wedding Celebrant’ training course but rather a ‘Couples & Family Celebrant’ training course. This means we look at all different kinds of ceremonies…. Wedding Blessings, Vow Renewals, Commitment Ceremonies, Betrothals, Baby Namings, Baby Blessings & Baby Welcome Ceremonies…. House Blessings, Pet Ceremonies, Divorce Ceremonies and Cutting the Soul Ties Ceremonies amongst others.

2. Is the training accredited?
At present the training is not accredited. However, there is no current requirement for Couple & Family Celebrants to be accredited.

3. Do I need any qualifications to become a student on the course?
There are no formal qualifications needed, but there are a number of personal qualities that are desired. See these listed above.

4. Is Travel & Accommodation provided on the course?
No. Travel & Accommodation costs are not included in the course fee.

5. Are Training Materials provided?
Yes, you will be provided with a Course Workbook and all session notes.

6. Can I record the course sessions.
Audio & Video Recording are not permitted.

7. Will there be any pre-course work?
Yes! As well as receiving some of the Course Notes, there will be a Skype session to begin looking at some of the course material, and all students are asked to prepare a 3-Minute introduction.

8. Will there be ongoing support for Celebrant?
Yes, following the course, you will be offered a 1 Day Shadowing opportunity (conditions apply). You will also be given one-to-one feedback, and you will be invited to join the CTS Private Facebook page where you will find lots of hints, tips, advice and videos. We also hold a monthly Celebrant meet-up where you can get together with other Celebrants.
