Day 5 – DAY OF PRACTICE & PRESENTATIONS
As students go through the course they will put together a 20-minute Funeral Service with Eulogy and each student will deliver a (mock) service on day 5.

 

 

Following the course, you will be offered a 1 Day Shadowing opportunity (conditions apply). You will also be given one-to-one feedback, and you will be invited to join the CTS Private Facebook page where you will find lots of hints, tips, advice and videos.

Students can also have a listing on the ‘Find a Celebrant’ page of the CTS website.

What Do I need to Join the Course?

While there are no formal qualifications required to be a Celebrant in the UK, there are a number of important attributes that are desired:

  • A willingness to learn

  • Good listening skills

  • Empathy

  • Good Public Speaking Skills
  • Good communication skills

  • Non-judgemental attitude

  • Good writing skills

  • Excellent organisational skills

  • A good speaking voice

  • Smart appearance

  • A genuine interest in people

TRAIN TO BE A CELEBRANT

Funeral Celebrant Training

The course is held in Stirling town centre, and runs from 9.30am until 5pm with breaks. Tea, Coffee & lunch is included in the course fee, but if you would like a bit of fresh air, there are cafes & restaurants nearby.

 

Q & A

1. Is the training accredited?
The training is not accredited. However, there is no current requirement for Funeral Celebrants to be accredited. 

2. Do I need any qualifications to become a student on the course?
There are no formal qualifications needed, but there are a number of personal qualities that are desired. See these listed above. In addition, all students are required to have completed the 1-Day Public Speaking Bootcamp before coming on the training.

3. Is Travel & Accommodation provided on the course?
Travel & Accommodation are not provided in the course fee.

4. Are Training Materials provided?
Yes, you will be provided with a Course Workbook and all session notes. Following the training you will be sent a number of resources you can use/adapt for your own Celebrant use. These include Funeral Director forms, Family Visit Questionnaires, Poems & Readings, Service Examples & a Tips & Advice sheet.

5. How is the course taught?
The course is highly experiential which means lots of sharing of knowledge & experience, but there are also discussions, slides, breakout sessions and lots of practice & feedback. 

6. Can I record the course sessions?
Audio & Video Recording are not permitted.

7. Will there be any pre-course work?
 As well as being sent some pre-course notes, there will be a pre-course Skype session to begin looking at some of the course material. You will be asked to prepare a 3-Minute introduction. 

8. Will there be any homework?
Yes, there will be homework on each night on the course (apart from the last day).

9. Will there be any ongoing support for Celebrants?
Yes, we have an active private FB group for CTS students where I post lots of helpful videos and where you can ask questions, seek help, and share your success. As well as these online resources and regular CPD Sessions, we have a monthly Celebrant meet-up in Stirling, and students can email or phone for any advice related to their training.
